Q: What’s the difference between the option and the package at a Houston Chevrolet dealership?
A: Sounds like the Houston Chevrolet dealership is trying to get you to pay way more money than you need to in order to get a lot of stuff that you don’t want. It happens to all of us, but you have to get the difference between option and package to understand what’s going on with your Houston Chevrolet dealership.
Occasionally, you just want one feature. Like, with my old car, I only wanted to add OnStar, but they wanted to put in with OnStar a ‘package’ with a sunroof, a DVD entertainment system, and a six CD changer. I didn’t need any of that, and if I had gotten it I would have ended up paying a couple thousand more.
Back in the day, packages were useful. They had features that actually ad some remote thing to do with each other, such as an entertainment package for that DVD player and CD player, or a leather package with a leather wrapped steering wheel and leather seats. Now, every Houston Chevrolet dealership is trying to make the option package like another trim level.
The Houston Chevrolet dealership will say that the packages allow people to get these features at a very cheap price, cheaper than they would be alone. Technically true, it doesn’t mean that you’re saving any money when you’re buying a lot of things you don’t want.
So, to answer your question, an option is one and a package of many. You have to figure out if you want to sacrifice your money to get the package that your Houston Chevrolet dealership is offering you, or if you want to sacrifice that one feature you want in order to save money.
